The titular robot hero Astro Boy (Atom) is featured here in iconic full flight mode in this marvelous hand-painted promotional cel from the 1980 color adaptation of Osamu Tezuka's groundbreaking classic Astro Boy. The series is most known for being the first work of fiction to embody the aesthetic known as anime, and Tezuka, often regarded as the "God of Manga", developed the designs of Astro Boy drawing inspiration from classic Walt Disney and Max Fleischer cartoons.
Astro Boy has been hand-inked and hand-painted on the reverse side, in the same manner as the original cartoons were created. The Astro Boy image measures a whopping 10.5” inches in width by 9” inches in height and the cel is registered against a high quality giclee background. The overall cel size is 12.5 x 10.5 inches.
