Comic Mint, your best source for rare, kooky, and classic animation art, is pleased to offer fans of the classic sitcom “IT’S ABOUT TIME” this sensational scene from the opening credits animation sequence. The sequence was created by DePatie–Freleng Enterprises, the animation studio best known for producing The Pink Panther cartoons.
The two astronauts, Mac and Hec, are chased by an angry caveman as the classic theme song plays over the animation. The characters have been hand-inked on the front side of this 12-field animation cel and hand painted on the reverse side in the same manner as the original cartoon was created back in 1966.. The artwork is in excellent condition.
It's About Time is a 1960s American sitcom created by Sherwood Schwartz, and starts with astronauts Mac McKenzie and Hector Canfield who travel faster than the speed of light, and then accidentally travel back to planet Earth's prehistoric past, in the Stone Age. They find hospitality from a nuclear family of cavemen consisting of the fathter Gronk, the mother Shag(or Shad), the young adult daughter Mlor, and the adolescent son Breer.
The show aired on CBS for a single season of 26 episodes from September 11th, 1966, to April 2nd, 1967. It is widely remembered for its incredibly catchy opening theme song ("It's about time, it's about space, about two men in the strangest place...").
