Kellogg's Rice Krispies TV Commercial Production Cel Setup (Chuck Gammage Animation, 1987).
The 1987 Kellogg's Rice Krispies commercial featured a group of basketball players comparing the nutritional benefits of Rice Krispies against oatmeal while incorporating the cereal's animated mascots, Snap, Crackle, and Pop. This is an extremely rare three cel setup featuring Snap, Crackle, and Pop looping a basket ball into the net. The production cels are hand-inked and hand-painted and are placed against a high quality photographic print of the matching scene background.
Snap, Crackle, and Pop are the first and longest-running advertising mascots in Kellogg's history. They began as a literal interpretation of the sounds made by Rice Krispies cereal in milk. The trio is famously structured as three brothers, each defined by distinct hats and roles.
The 1987 Kellogg's Rice Krispies basketball commercial (the "Better Than Oatmeal" campaign) was animated by Chuck Gammage Animation. The studio, founded by veteran animator Chuck Gammage, handled the traditional 2D hand-drawn character animation for Snap, Crackle, and Pop during this era, seamlessly blending their cartoon interactions with the live-action footage of the guys playing basketball. The artwork is issued with a Certificate of Authenticity.

Script from the 1987 Kellogg's Rice Krispies basketball commercial:
Guy 1: Yeah, right there. Okay, oh, hey Don! Kids know you're into their Rice Krispies. Guy 2: Mrs. McCormick, can Donnie come out and play?
Guy 1: What did you guys have? Good, old-fashioned oatmeal? Guy 3: Yeah. Good for your game oatmeal!
Guy 1: Well guys, Kellogg's Rice Krispies beats oatmeal. Wow, serious competition! It's higher in iron and eight major vitamins than your oatmeal.
Guy 3: Ooh, that's two points for the Rice Krispies expert. Guy 2: Yeah, but does he know which one of these guys is Pop?
Guy 1: Yeah, he's the one with the great outside shot! Singing Mascots / Voiceover: Snap! Pop! Rice Krispies!
