While sightseeing in Japan, the Mach 5 team crosses paths with a gang of assassins who are out to sabotage an international peace conference.
This 12-field limited edition cel was recreated from an original frame in the 1967 episode "Gang of Assassins". SPEED RACER was created by the Tatsunoko Studios in Japan in 1965. It came to America in a dubbed version in 1967. A total of 52 episodes were created. This cel is hand-painted and hand-inked, and bears the official SPEED RACER ENTERPRISES, INC. seal in the lower corner.
This is an artist proof numbered 17 out of 20 pieces and the cel is signed in Japanese by Ippei Kuri, the Key Animator/Director for the classic Speed Racer cartoons.
This edition has been SOLD-OUT for nearly three decades, as it was released way back in 1993 and was produced in a regular edition size of 200 pieces world-wide, which were hand-numbered. The artwork is accompanied by the certificate of authenticity.
