COMMENTS
Dick Ayers and Vince Colletta- Original interior art for "Ghost Rider" # 4, page 13 (Marvel, 1967).

This Silver Age dust-up features the titular villain from "...And Men Shall Call Him Sting-Ray!" They call him that because they don't call him "Scorpion" anymore, since he got his tail handed to him in 1960's Rawhide Kid #57. Yep, even in their Western comics, Marvel was building a cohesive universe. This page was created twice-up scale in ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 12.5" x 18.5". The last panel has a stripped-in word balloon text correction (taped in from the back).
The overall page size is 13.5" x 20.5" inches with an image area of 12.5" x 18.5" inches. The toned page is in very good to excellent condition.

Please note that the comic book image is for reference only, and is not sold with the artwork.

DICK AYERS:
Dick Ayers (American, 1924-2014): is lauded as a mainstay of the Marvel Age of Heroes that began at the dawn of the Silver Age. Fast, reliable, and gifted, Ayers' inking touch can be found on virtually every key Marvel superhero character, including the Fantastic Four, the Hulk, the Human Torch, Giant-Man, the Avengers, the X-Men, and others. At the insistence of Marvel editor Stan Lee, inker Dick Ayers was often teamed with penciler Jack Kirby, and their work together served as the template for the Marvel house style. Ayers is also celebrated for his own dynamic brand of penciling, especially in the mystery, war, and Western genres. Among his most fondly remembered stories are those showcasing the Ghost Rider, Rawhide Kid, the Two-Gun Kid, El Diablo, Jonah Hex, Sgt. Fury, the Unknown Soldier, and the Haunted Tank.
