COMMENTS
Western Publishing Artist - Beep Beep the Road Runner Cover Original Art (Gold Key, 1978).

The eternal struggle between Wile E. Coyote and that rascally Road Runner is played out in these four fine covers from the long-running series. The artwork is on standard art board, and the image area measures 10" x 13" inches. The artwork is in excellent condition, with no creases, or tears.

Please note that the comic book image is supplied as reference ONLY, and is not part of the sale.

WESTERN PUBLISHING COMICS (1938-1984) first partnered with Dell Publishing in 1938 doing licensed properties for the comics before starting its own line of comics under the Gold Key imprint in 1962. This lasted until 1981when, with the decline of comic sales, the logo changed entirely to Whitman. The company finally got out of the comic book business in 1984.

ORIGINAL COVERS:
Many comic book publishers believe that the cover of a comic needs to be very compelling in order to attract the eye of the casual buyer. As a result of this, artists tend to spend more time with the design and creation of the cover than with any other single image in the book. As a result of that, the original art for the cover of a comic tends to be highly sought after in comic collecting circles. And, finally, as a result of that, covers tend to be more expensive than the other pages of a comic book.
