Comic Mint, your best source for rare, kooky, and classic animation art, is pleased to offer GIGANTOR fans this sensational hand-inked and hand-painted limited edition cel placed against a photographic background. This cel is numbered 51 out of a worldwide edition of 500 pieces, and is signed by Fred Ladd, the producer responsible for bringing Japanese animated cartoons to North America, most notably Gigantor and Kimba the White Lion.
This awesome limited edition recreates the iconic pose of Gigantor, as seen on our television screens in the 1960’s, roaring through the sky to the tune of "Bigger than Big, Taller than Tall, Quicker than Quick, Stronger than Strong… Gigantor, the Space Age Robot…" This limited edition has been SOLD-OUT for two decades, and is extremely hard to find.
The cel has the official studio gold seal (lower left corner) and is accompanied by a letter of authenticity.
In 1963, Fred Ladd (shortly after releasing an English-language adaptation of Astroboy) and Delphi Associates adapted and overdubbed 52 episodes of the Japanese Sci-fi children's cartoon Tetsujin-28, releasing and distributing for the American TV market as Gigantor.
Set in the year 2000, Gigantor tells the story of Jimmy Sparks and his remote-controlled flying robot, Gigantor. Critically panned by adults, the cartoons were a hit with kids and have become a cult classic for baby boomer sci-fi robot fans.
